Criminal Law
Feldesman Tucker's Government Investigation and Enforcement Group represents and counsels corporations and individuals facing government investigation by federal and state law enforcement authorities, and administrative agencies. They represent corporations and individuals in regulatory non-compliance matters as well. While these investigations often arise from allegations of criminal conduct-they are a long way from the street crime and violent offenses that most people think of when they picture a criminal lawyer. They typically involve complex business and regulatory issues. Our lawyers know that these are not the kinds of matters easily disposed of by arranging a quick plea bargain.
The White Collar Crime and Government Investigations Group at Feldesman Tucker represents corporate and individual clients in every kind of enforcement action, including:
* Inspector General Investigations,
* Grand Jury investigations,
* Regulatory enforcement investigations,
* Jury and non-jury trials, and administrative hearings
* A broad range of inquiries from Congress and other federal and state legislative bodies.
Our lawyers understand the high stakes and far-reaching ramifications of even being the subject of one of these investigations. They appreciate that these investigations can lead to whispers of "scandal." The implication of one individual affects not just that person, but can frequently affect his or her employer -- even family members and other business associates. We have the experience to assist and advise clients at the first hint of a potential government inquiry, to develop a strategy to address the allegations, and avoid or minimize the impact of an investigation on individuals, businesses and even government agencies.
White Collar Investigations and Trials
Attorneys in the Feldesman Tucker Government Investigation and Enforcement Group have represented corporations and individuals in white collar and regulatory non-compliance matters. We participated in the political corruption trials involving Maryland Governor Marvin Mandel, the Watergate-related prosecution of Attorney General John Mitchell, the Iran-Contra investigation, and the independent counsel investigations of Interior Secretary Bruce Babbitt and of President Clinton's relationship with Monica Lewinsky. We have also represented clients facing investigation, indictment, and trial for allegations of public corruption, RICO, obstruction of justice, bribery, mail fraud, forgery, money laundering and other white-collar crimes.
